Today Your Child Learned…

Dear Parent & Guardian,
We are excited to share that your child has completed the following PSHE lesson. Check out our overview and top tips to support their development…

Today’s PSHE Lesson

Dealing With Adversity (Controlling Our Emotions In Adverse Situations)

At some stage in our lives we will all face challenges or adversity. Some of us may fight the challenge head on, some of us may bury our heads and talk about the situation, others may walk away. Knowing how to react and deal with adversity is an important life lesson.

What We Covered In The PSHE Lesson

Here’s what we went through today…

  • Staying calm, being patient and rational in adverse situations can improve a situation or make it easier to overcome.

How You Can Help From Home

Here’s what you can talk about during dinner…

  • Talk about what they might do in a particular situation and compare it to the choices you might make.
  • Remind your child that facing adversity is sometimes normal in our lives and we all have to overcome challenges.

Go Above & Beyond

Here are some other ideas to support your childs PSHE lessons…

  • Discuss how remaining calm will help in adverse situations, this will help us to deal with the challenge more clearly and help reassure those around us.
  • Practise breathing exercises and counting down techniques in order to remain calm to show they can control their feelings when faced with a tricky situation.
  • Encourage them to look at challenges in small pieces, try to tackle each part rather than look at the situation as a whole.
  • Are there parts of the challenge that they can solve more easily than others.

When it comes to your child’s development, teachers and parents are better together! By aligning our goals and education techniques, we can better realise our vision of positively preparing your child for their future.

The pupils at our school are really enjoying the lifewise scheme. The scheme is very staff-friendly and easy to monitor. More staff are now teaching lifewise as a consequence and all the DfE statutory guidance (+more) is covered. The staff at lifewise are extremely professional. As it is a digital platform, lessons are constantly being up-dated and improved.

Lifewise is a fantastic tool to use. It is easy and clear to navigate and as well as in class we have used Lifewise during remote learning sessions, whilst in lockdown. I would thoroughly recommend this 'wellbeing session' tool to any school. It is exceptional.

Lifewise was so helpful for my online ELSA sessions. The format gave the children the chance to express their emotions. They loved the quiz and enjoyed the conversation.
