Today Your Child Learned…
Dear Parent,
We are excited to share that your child has completed the following PSHE lesson. Check out our overview and top tips to support their development…
Today’s PSHE Lesson
Fight Or Flight (Race Away Or Face It?)
This lesson looks at the response that we call ‘Fight or Flight’. Knowing whether to stand up and face a challenge or whether to retreat and protect ourselves from possible harm is a natural instinct and one that can make us feel fear or panic.
What We Covered In The PSHE Lesson
Here’s what we went through today…
- How ‘Fight or Flight’ is the body’s natural response to a difficult situation.
- How this feeling is common for us all at times in our lives.
- And how different emotions make us feel and what fear feels like.
How You Can Help From Home
Here’s what you can talk about during dinner…
- Share any experiences when you’ve felt the ‘Fight or Flight’ response.
- Talk about how you felt physically and emotionally when faced with a tricky situation that made you feel anxious.
- Discuss together how we all face challenges in life and that some situations may trigger a ‘Fight or Flight’ response but that this feeling does pass and it’s good for us to face challenges and know we can overcome these.
Go Above & Beyond
Here are some other ideas to support your childs PSHE lessons…
- Some challenges, like exams or talking in front of the class may make us feel panicky and want to ‘run away’ By talking about these tricky situations can help us to put things into perspective and easier to face.
When it comes to your child’s development, teachers and parents are better together! By aligning our goals and education techniques, we can better realise our vision of positively preparing your child for their future.
