Today Your Child Learned…
Dear Parent & Guardian,
We are excited to share that your child has completed the following PSHE lesson. Check out our overview and top tips to support their development…
Today’s PSHE Lesson
Fire Safety (Making A Fire Escape Plan)
By creating an emergency plan in the case of fire could save lives. Practise the plan together being aware that fire could start in different areas of the home.
What We Covered In The PSHE Lesson
Here’s what we went through today…
- What a fire escape plan is and how to share and practise it with the family.
- How to alert everyone in the house that there’s a fire, to get out as quickly as possible and that the emergency services are informed.
How You Can Help From Home
Here’s what you can talk about during dinner…
- Chat to your child about fire safety and what the family could do in the event of a fire in the home.
- Make a family fire escape plan together without delay so everyone knows what to do if a fire breaks out.
- Practise the fire escape plan as a family so that everyone knows to keep calm and get out of the house as quickly as possible because their lives are more important than belongings.
- Regularly check that they know their full name, address and telephone number in case they’re the ones that have to make that emergency call.
Go Above & Beyond
Here are some other ideas to support your childs PSHE lessons…
- Try not to alarm your child but make them aware of the possibility of housefires.
- Encourage them not to play with fire/lighters/matches and keep candles out of reach.
- Make the emergency plan with them.
