Today Your Child Learned…
Dear Parent & Guardian,
We are excited to share that your child has completed the following PSHE lesson. Check out our overview and top tips to support their development…
Today’s PSHE Lesson
Respect (How We Can Show Our Respect To Others)
Respecting ourselves and our personal information is important, especially in today’s world of selfies, posting messages and images where it’s quick and easy to share information that we might regret later. Texting and social media platforms have made it easier to share opinions, comment on images and post our thoughts at the click of a button but appreciating the difference between respect and disrespect is something that we all need to take into account if we’re to use technology responsibly and respectfully.
What We Covered In The PSHE Lesson
Here’s what we went through today…
- What disrespect might look like and that showing disrespect to some groups of people may even be illegal for example, where racial abuse is used.
- Knowing that respecting ourselves is important to keep ourselves and other safe.
How You Can Help From Home
Here’s what you can talk about during dinner…
- Remind your child about how to respect others and what might be classed as being disrespectful.
Go Above & Beyond
Here are some other ideas to support your childs PSHE lessons…
- Remind your child self-respect is important and having boundaries that they do not cross will keep them and others safe in life.
- Remind them that sharing personal information or sensitive images of themselves online is wrong.
- Encourage your child to understand and appreciate differences between people and know that they’re able to give their thoughts and opinions but these have to be considered, sensitively contributed and be respectful of the feelings of others.
- Treat others how we would like to be treated ourselves.
When it comes to your child’s development, teachers and parents are better together! By aligning our goals and education techniques, we can better realise our vision of positively preparing your child for their future.
