Today Your Child Learned…
Dear Parent & Guardian,
We are excited to share that your child has completed the following PSHE lesson. Check out our overview and top tips to support their development…
Today’s PSHE Lesson
Sleep (How Can Sleep Affect Our Mind And Body?)
Lack of good quality sleep can have a detrimental affect on our mind and body and our overall health. Poor sleep can lead to headaches, weight gain, heart disease, diabetes and other problems. It can also shorten your life expectancy. It affects our learning ability, our mood and our relationships with others. Getting into good sleep habits when you’re young can pave the way to having a healthier, happier life.
What We Covered In The PSHE Lesson
Here’s what we went through today…
- How poor sleep routines might have an effect on us and those around us.
- How lack of sleep can affect our ability to learn.
How You Can Help From Home
Here’s what you can talk about during dinner…
- Talk about what we can do to make our quality of sleep better, how we can wake up on time in the mornings and how we can help each other when we’re trying to sleep by perhaps turning the tv or music down or off, by moving around the house quietly and by making sure that screens and lights are off in bedrooms by a set time.
Go Above & Beyond
Here are some other ideas to support your childs PSHE lessons…
- One in 3 of us suffers from poor sleep and the reasons given for this have been said to be computers, taking work home and stress.
- Encouraging our children to ‘wind down’ before bedtime without screens, to relax in a calming environment and how to go back to sleep if they wake up in the night.
- Visiting your GP or referral to sleep clinics may help if sleep continues to be a problem for your child.
When it comes to your child’s development, teachers and parents are better together! By aligning our goals and education techniques, we can better realise our vision of positively preparing your child for their future.
